Was only a reader, but since benefitted so much from your posts (thanx), thought could do some contribution by sharing info:
Here's my Latin pass schedule for 500K bonus:

Total cost USD 1,204. Should be USD1,013 for Y. Scarry part is VX and
VH only offers Y and that segment happens to be a midnight transfer
at LIM... I happen to be in PTY for vacation in a few days, so thought
could spend some 28 hours for the bonus. All flights are reserved and ticketed. (The funny thing is ITN shows VX521 2135-2345... Hmm?)
Thought of difference versions of flight plans, but wanted to be most
conservative in terms of connection time.
Also:
ORD-STL TW669 2048-2200 727-200 S
STL-ORD TW46 1006-1117 727-200 S
for a mere USD 69 also booked and ticketed.
For hotels:
Conrad HKG for HKD 888 (=USD 115, Chinese new years special,
have to be in Hong Kong next week)
Renaissance St Louis for USD 47 (advance reservation/payment) and
Marriott Panama for USD 75 (advance reservation/payment)
Finally, car rental:
AVIS Panama, USD23 per day for economy
