Well if SQ were planning to upgrade all 77W they would probably stop performing maintenance on the seats, much like what they did to the old spacebeds on the 77E. But since SQ have decoded to keep the old'ish seats, one would at least assume they're maintaining them.
They are not keeping the current seats, they are replacing them with nearly identical looking ones which have better recline and purportedly weigh less.
And they do repair the current generation - I watched an IFE being fixed on the ground not that long ago. Not sure how bad the damage was though and if it required special tools.
