NBO not NBI, just FYI. If you would rather use your AA miles, I would try calling AA to check availability on Etihad JFK-AUH-NBO. Also, Qatar via DOH should be an option, but I don't think you can book until Oct 30.

For Star Alliance / UR, there are options on Korean Air (via ICN), Turkish Airways (via IST), Swiss (via ZRH) and Brussels. A simple award search on United.com should make the Star Alliance options pretty clear.
