Never got op-upped at the gate BUT my seat wouldn't respond to the controller, the three preset buttons in the armrest worked, but none of the controller's individual functions did.

The purser was INSISTENT that I took one of the suites, and despite my protestations that I really wasn't that bothered, she insisted, and when I got up for a wee, my stuff was already on its way forwards.

Some of the best cabin crew / passenger interface I have ever come across, took ownership of the problem, and resolved it in the best way possible.
