Points post at the end of the statement cycle. Each card has its own rewards account, but you can transfer points from one card to another. If you were to leave points in an account, and close the corresponding card, you would lose those points.

To transfer points to an airline, hotel or Amtrak you must have at least one of these premium cards:

Sapphire Preferred
JP Morgan Select
JP Morgan Palladium
Ink Bold
Ink Plus

You can earn UR points with other cards (Sapphire, Freedom, Ink Cash, Ink Classic), but they must be transferred to a premium card before they can be transferred out of the program.
