My partner has a four digit amount of Airmiles, so we are wating for a need to use those for a flight. After that, we won't care about Airmiles much any more.
Just go to the airmiles website and set your cash/dream rewards thing to 100% cash. Then if you are purchasing from places you normally would anyway that gives miles, collect them, and then you can use them as cash at those various places. I hate letting points go uncollected at whatever place gives them in various programs lol.
It does suck that they have ditched most of the gift cards for cash rewards now, especially since you had to start collecting a fresh batch of cash miles rather than using the thousands you might already have sitting there. But even with regular collecting, not going out of your way to earn the miles, you can earn enough for some free groceries or gas over the course of the year. An upside this way is you don't have to redeem for a gift card and wait for it to come in the mail. They just deduct the points directly at time of purchase,
