The L9 got HSPA+ connectivity in Sweden without issue.
What I didn't mention and should have is that the Nexus 5 will be coming out in 4-5 weeks. If it is priced like the Nexus 4, it will be ~$300-$400, a great phone that's chock full of world frequency bands, although it likely won't support Wifi calling.
It definitely won't (like with all Google-branded phones), and that is a deal-breaker for me.
