So if DL wanted the A340, they would have buy to used aircraft....but I find this possibility to be highly unlikely.
IMHO, I think it is much more likely that DL will eventually order the B777-300.....we'll see.
Looking at Delta's purchase history lately, I could see them going for the A340 used instead of the 777-300 new. According to this article Delta could pick up some used A340's for a fraction of the price of a new 777-300.
