Well, Airbus discontinued production of new A340 aircraft a couple of years ago. Some folks think the A340 program was killed by the operating economics of the B777.
So if DL wanted the A340, they would have buy to used aircraft....but I find this possibility to be highly unlikely.
IMHO, I think it is much more likely that DL will eventually order the B777-300.....we'll see.
