Generally there aren't many U fare seats on Saturdays from experience on that route. Club is often full on that route as is WT+. I think they often oversell WT+ too.

I don't really know about reward seats being released closer to departure as if I don't get an upgrade from WT+ with miles at booking I just book a Club fare. My advice would be to look for upgrade offers at online check-in or ask about upgrade offers at airport check-in.
