I know it's denoted as such on doors and signs, but you wouldn't ask, "Where is the WC" as opposed to actually saying "water closet" would you? Or would you?
No you wouldn't. You'd ask for toilet and get pointed to a sign saying "WC" . or even "restroom" ... but nobody actually *says* restroom, normally. But the word "toilet" will work most anywhere.
