I leave the phone plugged in, but I very rarely get calls on it. I do unplug the refrigerator, which makes annoying sounds all night, and turn the AC/heater/fan off.
I have received "Is everything OK in your room", "was your room service delivered to your satisfaction" at one or two properties. I politely ask them not to call again for such niceties. I'll call if I need something.
