I am trying to decide between this resort and Turtle Bay for next summer, and I am looking for opinions from people that have stayed at Ko Olina Beach club and Turtle Bay. The price is about the same for the time of year we're going. It sounds like this resort itself is better, but it sounds like there are more things to do at/nearby Turtle Bay (less isolated - though it is farther away from HNL).

We have kids (aged 8 and 10) and while a kids program isn't necessary (we like doing things together as a family) activities at the resort for everyone are preferred. We aren't so picky about restaurants, but a variety at the resort would be nice.

The big downside for Turtle Bay is the deposit/cancellation policy. I don't like paying for any hotels up front. With Ko Olina, I can earn lots of Marriott points, have no deposit required, and lose less money if I need to cancel within the 14 day window. This is a big deciding factor for me when I vacation plan, because I plan waaaay in advance, and have had to cancel/modify my plans more than once!

Any advice would be much appreciated!
