That is true; I plan on doing SIN-Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai-Phuket-SIN. The middle two legs can be flipped around. So far, the best price I've been quoted on TG's site is a tad over $1000 SGD or ~$800 USD. Not sure if that's a reasonable price. There's also the Star Asia Pass tool I've yet to use.

I'm sure Air Asia or Lion Air is cheaper. I'll have to research those, and factor in the luggage fees and whether those destinations are on the route lists.

Sometimes domestic earnings are different than international earnings (for the better). But if your chosen FFP credits a particular TG fare basis then it will also credit the TG segment.
