Is there anything wrong with doing this? I have never had a problem until recently, when I stayed at a Hilton in Warwick and the hotel staff questioned it - stating that it is a requirement to keep the phone plugged in in case of emergencies(!).

What is the opinion of others about this? Is it OK to unplug the phone and leave Do Not Disturb on the door?
Can you not just turn the ringer off instead?
