So I give all my details to Delta, on the 12th of Sept, photo of card, etc... ask for my existing booking to be credited with GM benefits, 2 weeks later I get confirmed that my status has been updated. Phoned Skymiles this morning to be told that the waitlist is full and that I wont be put on it and to call back in a couple of weeks in the off chance that it would be freed up.

Is this typical? Is it worth complaining since I explicitly asked in my mail with the status match to ensure that the booking would receive GM benefits.
