This was their way to run business at EWR/IAH/CLE. They copied the same mentality to run the combined airline when they took over UA.

Anyone else from SFO care to share recent experience with targeted offers?

By the way, they have grossly overestimated their importance. If I am willing to let go of status/loyalty to one airline, then I've got perfectly good alternatives for the vast majority of my flying. And, the devaluations to loyalty make this choice easier and easier each year.
