We are considering a Spain vacation in early Sept 2014, would like to spend a long weekend in Lazarote, use Avios for the flights (on Iberia).

Preference would be to depart BCN on Thursday (Sept 11), arrive in MAD on a Sunday (Sept 14). Based on initial research, it appears that only Business Avios award seats are available, at prohibitive redemption rates, purchase price is currently less than $600 RT. I checked Oct 2013 and Aug 2014, looking for some clues, but not very helpful.

Our understanding is that locals should be done with their August holidays, back to work by this time, would appreciate any guidance if/when economy award seats might become available at more reasonable rates, or are we better off paying cash for tickets.
