I would ask the retal company how much LIABILITY they carry for their customers. This is not usually a worry in Canada (I think most carry a million or more) but is a HUGE, HUGE concern in the USA where some states mandate only 50K and thus the car rental firm provides 50K. Do you feel confident driving around in the most litigious country in the world with 50K in coverage? Yikes!! Now, if you have your own car insurance in Canada the liability portion will follow you into the USA.
