You may even need to wait until March 2014 (after last year's status expires) before having your friend gift you GM to make sure everything above 25k has already rolled over and you're now squarely Silver based on 2013 mileage. At that point, I don't see how the gifted GM status could affect your 2014 MQMs (including rollover from 2013).

The real question is whether the rolled-over miles are worth the cost of your friend's MR... it'll all depend on your expected MQD math for next year. Good luck!
