I don't agree with this. I gifted my wife gold last year for this year. Her MQMs rolled over into this year. She was silver plus before the gifting.

So I believe her extras (+25k) rolled over into this year even though she was gold. Her "earned" status last year was silver.

Now you may need to consider the MQD aspect of needing to make the qualifications with your 24k+ rolled over and still needing to make the MQD level to get gold in 2015.

You may also want to wait until mid-Jan to get the gold gift so you would have been gifted "gold" after the rollover occurs Jan 1. Doing this will allow you to have gold (gifted) through feb/2015.
