Sounds like a loose/loose to me (or at least a lot of trouble for little gain):

You are paying for something you will be getting anyway...

Also if GM is gifted now from 2013 choice benefit it expires in Feb 2014. It would have to be the 2014 choice benefit for you to get status for 2014-Feb2015. And he can't gift you GM until he makes DM for 2014 so I do not think this will work! Unless he gifts it after the MR.

And then what happens to all your MQM's? That I can't say but this all sounds like a really bad idea to me.
