Remember that the AA status match is based on points NOT miles... Deep discount economy fares (G,Q,N,O,S) on AA only earn .5 points / mile so if you fly on lower cost tickets you will need to fly 50,000 miles to earn the match. This "issue" trips up quite a few AA status matchers.
