Actually, yes it does.

(would you also apply the same "logic" to lav use ? I mean, some people seated near the lav might find the smells from it inconvenient...)

There is nothing rude about using a seat in the manner in which it was designed. But I'll take your advice as soon as Amtrak starts LAX-LHR service.
