When I was a blue I paid for WTP exit row at 72 hours and it was the best few quid I ever spent as I ended up being in-voluntarily upgraded to CW at the gate on an LHR-LAX flight. I know that is not the norm but it certainly was a pleasant outcome.
My wife and I are silvers and out of 10 return WT+ bookings we have only had to sit there once. Almost always upgraded to CW, and once a double to F.
