One possibility is to call Citi and ask if the credit line on the Forward card could be consolidated into a new AAdvantage card.

(This might prevent a hard pull on your credit report).

The FT credit card forum might be a better place to ask this, as there are people there with vast knowledge of these kinds of questions.
