In the big accident thread on this forum someone indicated it was a female captain at the controls. I wonder if the union would stand up for the pilot in a situation like this (i.e., obvious negligence on the part of the pilot resulting in significant damage to the airplane and numerous passenger injuries.) You would think the union wouldn't want to be seen as standing up for pilots who have an unsafe flying history. If the NTSB accident report ends blaming it on the captain I would sure hope they aren't flying for Southwest...
