If you can't get to the Grand Canyon because of the government shutdown, when you get to LAS, take an air tour over the Grand Canyon. I've done it, and it is absolutely gorgeous! You also get to leave from a small airport nearby, not LAS.

When I took the air tour, it was the same price whether booked in advance or walk-up, so just play it by ear.
