Since 2011, I don't recall anything more than 70K, otherwise everyone would be all for it.
I had a similar history, my in-law got the lettermail offer for 50K, so I call in as a Gold Rewards card holder and request an upgrade to Platinum with the 50K - 25K on activation and 25K on first purchase, no min spend req'd. 50K is the highest I recall prior to increase of the annual fee to $699. I even had a thread going about the 50K sign-up bonus
here. Sign-Up 60K (via referral) was the highest that was reported here, unless one is including self-referral from Gold for another 10K for a total of 70K (10K referrel + 60K Sign-up)

I agreed, same with the AeroplanPlus Platinum. 30K + FYF is way better than 51K + $499.
