I 100% agree with you! Just a 60 minute connection at LHR when such an important event as your son's birthday.....sorry HighLife but what on earth were you thinking of????
There was literally no other option due to my schedule in the US, other than what
PUCCI suggests below, but I had so much luggage that I dreaded the idea of a flight to CDG or ORY and a transfer to Austerlitz station for the 5 hour train journey down to the Lot (Dordogne) where I live.
That would have got me home around 18h30 instead of 14h on the BA itinerary to TLS.
I just thought, against all better judgement, that I would put some faith in the T5 to T5 one hour legal transfer. What a mistake.

I would be astounded if BA paid out for a €450 taxi = good grief where on earth where you going that it would cost that much?
It is NOT a well-connected area
PUCCI! Would be easier and cheaper to get to
HIDDY's estancia

but this is where I am ancestrally tied to the land and I couldn't live anywhere else on the planet. In the end it ended up costing 420 Euros and I managed to get home with a fabulous birthday cake and a bottle of Billecart-Salmon pink at 20h30

. The little man and his mother were over the moon.
BA have managed to shell out for a 600 Euro taxi before (between BOD and TLS for me in the middle of the night) but that's another story... so let's see. I won't bother pushing it further than an emailed letter via SS later this week.
Anyway. It was worth it. Another night overlooking the ring road at TLS just didn't appeal.
