I couldn't find a master thread for this hotel. If there is one please move this post to the master thread.
I recently visited the newly renovated Sheraton Mallorca Golf Hotel right on its re-opening date together with Mrs. SunshineStay. We stayed there for six days and wanted to share our experiences.
Arrival:
We had booked a very early flight into Mallorca. I had therefore contacted the reservation beforehand to ask whether we could check in early at around 8.30 AM. I got a prompt reply telling me that they would try to make it possible.
When we arrived we were told, that we couldn't yet go to our room, because the hotel personnel had stayed in the individual room for one final sleepover overnight to possibly identify any remaining deficiencies. The front desk agent offered us a free breakfast while our room was made ready. Nice gesture! When we were at our breakfast table, we were approached by the communications director, who told us that we were the very first guests and asked to take a picture for the facebook page. We happily obliged. The picture is still there, though we were later told that we were really only the second guests
After breakfast we checked in officially. Everything was in order (e.g. SPG number on file, status, etc.).
We were told, that the room was still missing a ceiling panel and that this would be fixed later. Because of this glitch the hotel director invited us to dinner on the first evening. Again a very nice gesture. A free drink at the bar would have been sufficient in my view.
Room:
We got a nice and large double bed room with a view over the golf course. However in the mornings it was quite loud because the terrace of the breakfast restaurant was directly below us. So anyone who wants a quiet room should opt out of the golf course view. The room itself was newly renovated as was the bath room. The shower has one downside: It only has a glass wall covering half of the bathroom, the other half is open (no sliding door). In the future that will surely lead to water spilling over the door step and that becoming mold-infested. Another case of design vs. function.
Service:
The personnel was very attentive. They were very eager to please. Most speak at least three languages (Spanish, German, English).
Restaurants:
The hotel has two restaurants (one regular and one tapas restaurant). We only used the tapas restaurant, which was very nice and offered good tapas for fair prices.
Golf:
The hotel offers free access to 3 18 hole course in the vicinity (together with free shuttle service, max. drive 5 minutes) and a 9-hole short course. So if you want to come here, bring your golf bag with you.
Things to improve:- We had a rate without breakfast. After asking for the price for breakfast each morning, we were told that this would cost 30€ p.P. That is really too much. The breakfast is nice and all, but really not worth 30€. 20€ would be a more reasonable price.
- Another thing that is really unfairly priced is laundry. 8€ for washing and pressing a dress shirt is just too much.
All in all it was a very nice visit. We will definitely come back.
