I wasn't sure which forum to post this in, I spent some time searching but couldn't find a forum for "airports" or sFO... so here goes.

I'm on a mileage award from Beijing to TUS on UA. I land in SFO at 0830 and my connecting flight is on US to PHX at 0915. 45 mins to clear customs, grab bags, recheck bags and get myself through security at US Air.

I do have Global Entry so getting thru customs is okay as long as bags arrive on time. I have TSA precheck but (a) it doesn't seem to work when intl travel is involved [maybe they changed that]) and (b) I don't know if US Air has precheck.

So the whole thing seems kinda iffy... next flight I can get on with my MP award is 10 hours later.

I may just call UA and tell them I'll go to a hotel for the day and come back for the evening flight... not sure even if UA can get my recheck bags from Customs to the US air flight in time. Assuming I land at 0830, clear customs by 0845. Assuming the bags came down okay to begin with.

Any thoughts? Is it worth even trying when retendering my bags to another carrier may invite yet more problems?
