The t&c are clear. When the t&c are clear, the best place to deal with this is at the FD which might fall for it and extend the benefit as a CS gesture. Don't ask in advance because someone who knows the answer may answer "no" and then note the folio, at which point you are SOL.
Reason to wait is that this isn't about something vital. What are you going to do if you actually have to pay?
