Your breakfast comment just sums up why I will never fly UA internationally if I have to. Having flown from SFO to ICN with Asiana airlines it just does not compare. Would love to try CX on this route as well.

Good point. I think that UA mileage plus program is a huge component. People want to stay loyal to UA and then they try to use their upgrades on UA.
