I am coming in from Houston with a USA passport. I just like to collect stamps in my passport, even if a little effort is required to get it

If I understand correctly, I only get a stamp when entering/leaving foreign country. In Chicago and other cities you do get a stamp for customs clearance on the trip back to USA (sometimes).
