...Which is precisely what happens. On my TATL flights, I pay attention to the light around departure and arrival, and if it's turbulent. However, if it's been smooth going, and I have to use the lav, I'll go, regardless of whether the light is on. On foreign airlines, who use the seatbelt light less frequently, I am much more likely to take it seriously.
