So, I'm wondering; is there any reason it's not allowable to simply exit as an arriving passenger after crossing the UK Border check, and then head up to departures, and enter security without all the faffing around in the lines for the escalators downstairs?

Anyone found this to be a quicker way of doing things?
its only quicker than if you don't have fast track access with your status imho.

I came back from Cairo once, and the fast track saved over 90 minutes of queuing. that was 12 noon on a Friday.

Saying that I came back from Milan last week, and the fast track definitely took longer than the standard queue, that was around 12.30 on a thursday
