Within the first 5 minutes I spent looking for a day trip from Dubai I decided Oman was a place to spend more than a day at. That's one reason I'm not really wanting to spend too much just entering the country, if I'll be doing it again at some point and truly getting my monies worth.

I had looked at some expat forums. But I don't need a new visa, and I shouldn't actually need one for Oman either. They have a visa agreement in place with each other and my UAE visa should be valid for Oman too (I think?) Oman's official website hints that fees will be collected by the UAE upon arrival. But I wouldn't be paying the UAE any fees on entry, so I could surmise no fees would be collected for the visa at all.
