I've just made some scrambled eggs in my own kitchen. Eggs went off on 18th September, but I've got a Miele fridge and a waste-not-want-not constitution so am not bothered. Will report back, unless I DIE HORRIBLY.
I'm honestly unconcerned about the report/score itself. It's more the continued obfuscation in the responses from BS, and lack of a decent statement and action from BA on the matter.
I'm also not concerned if they have made savings with the new contract - great it keeps the fares low! But they haven't been honest about that, in fact they've suggested its about improving quality. Well, in some regards I have seen an improvement in quality, but to achieve that they have reduced options elsewhere (particularly in the afternoons) and it doesn't take a genius to work out that an international airline lounge is less driven by typical mealtimes, as by when people are actually in need of sustenance.
Food safety pre-flight (and indeed on board) is a very serious issue. We trust young children and elderly relatives to BA's care, and if something serious happens at 40,000 feet it's not that easy to get the help they need quickly. So this is far more of an issue than it would be at any other establishment.
Add in the premium prices and top class aspirations of the brand, and this is a double whammy which needs to be addressed. If it's not properly dealt with, it will call into question how other aspects of the airlines Operation are managed.
