There will be plenty of carts avaiable and they are free, but some of them have very squeak wheels and others are semi-locked (don't wheel freely); so take your time to chose a good cart, because it is a long walk from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 and the walkways connect only the ends of both terminals. Besides, frequently one of these is out-of-service.

If you need only money for a taxi and has no Reais, it would be better to ask your partner to book a pre-paid Taxi immediately after passing customs: on terminal 2 there are three booths with usually frenzied women asking for your business; they are legit, albeit a little more expensive than hiring a taxi outside the terminal.
