we stayed at the FS Mauritius on our honeymoon almost 2 years ago. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. The FS is beautiful and all rooms are private villas. Service was excellent and everything was very nice and new. The GM at the time was from Chicago and treated us well. The beach is manmade and kind of small, not ideal. Food was decent, not amazing, and expensive (though we had a half board package). Our other qualm (though no fault of the hotel), was it was some European holiday that week, so the hotel was overrun with European families that week, not exactly romantic.

We checked out several other hotels when we were there. Both O&O St Geran and Le Touessrok were very dated and we were surprised by the positive reviews online and fact that St Geran is the O&O flagship (Cape Town O&O was superior). Le Prince Maurice was very dated as well, but apparently has undergone renovation. We have friends that liked Oberoi a lot, but didn't see it ourselves. St Regis looks nice and is new, could be a good choice.
