Extremely sad situation. Condolences to the captain's family and colleagues.

When I filed the first report upthread it had not been made clear that the captain had passed on.

I did see a report that the passenger who was a medical professional and offered chest compression, etc. assistance was a fairly slight woman, and the captain was a big man, so there must have been some inflight logistical challenges. I am sure they did all they could.

I checked with my pilot son -- despite rigorous medical requals and the obvious risk factors, it is apparently not so difficult for a very overweight person to retain his or her cockpit job.
