I'm somewhat resigned to the fact that it just doesn't work and ST doesn't particularly care. If you look at the Straighttalkwirelessforum.com, Howard Forums, XDA, etc., it seems as if ST has just wiped its hands of the issue.

Does anyone know if AIO lets people bring their own phones? I'm wondering if I would have any better luck with this issue if I got my service from an AT&T owned company.
Did you input the proper MMS settings for your tfdata APN? They are different than the example I posted (which is for legacy ATT SIM).

Try
mmsc: http://mms-tf.net
mms proxy: mms2.tracfone.com
mms port: 80

or

MMSC is mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy is mms.tracfone.com

or

MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
