Yellowknife is worth a visit by itself. The funniest thing I found about the place was the many people living on houseboats to avoid property taxes.
The thing is, when I was researching this, I found Yellowknife hotels to be really expensive - in my book - with a Super 8 at the low end, over $200, even into the winter. I mention the Super 8 because it was the only one I could calibrate as to what you're getting.
