I presently have a Delta/Amex Skymiles Gold card. I just got an upgrade offer for a Platinum Skymiles Delta card. Need some advice....

The Platinum card benefits: one econ class companion certificate per year on card's anniversary date, 5k bonus miles, and 5k MQMs (once the card is used for a purchase), and 20k MQMs after spending $50k/year.

The cost: $150/yr (compared with $95/yr for the gold card I presently have)

I'm drawn to the companion certificate, but the 5k bonus miles seems low for the cost of $150/yr. I'll never spend $50k/yr on any credit card, so the 20k MQMs is not a factor in the decision.

So I'm on the fence on this one....

I have not seen this offer mentioned on this site... is this a common offer?
I'm wondering if I should hold out for a better (more bonus miles) offer... I've only had the gold card for about 1 yr, if that matters....

Any experiences/comments?
