It looks like BA are feeling pressure on the A32x fleet at the moment - obviously there's the mid-haul issues, with AMM regularly getting a Euro-config aircraft.
We've got the AOG situations discussed, and there seems to be a good proportion of the fleet (higher than normal?) on maintenance inputs as well.
I noticed they've got a 757 in again from Titan, working Shuttles today, too. No doubt causing non-containerised ground-support strife (though that seems the least of BAs worries if the T5 luggage system has had a serious hissy).
Given the 788s are coming on stream rather quickly at the moment, the substitutions and lease-ins are interesting considering this might have thrown up a spare 767 or two?
I've been around long enough to know equipment changes are non-trivial, but could the 767s be put to work temporarily covering for some of the mid-haul work?
Or are the released 767s currently sacred in case there's another 787 grounding?
It would at least give a more consistent product delivery, and not risk brand damage and dented customer goodwill.
Or maybe this actually costs significantly more than handing out comp on the AMM and hiring in the 757? In which case, as you were.
