Booking class of AA internal flights?

I've read that booking a 'Business' itinerary with BA produces a 'Business/I' fare on internal AA flights within the US, which doesn't really exist. How does this work in practice - would I be in the F cabin or Y? And do they credit F or Y tier points or something in between? Finally, if I call BA and insist on F class booking for the AA segments, will it cost more?
