That's what I thought, so I mentioned EU regulations to the police officer overseeing the operation, hence his citation of my
airline's request. Further, I
thought German airports didn't use full body scanners as their own studies had found them ineffective boondoggles, so I was very surprised by the whole encounter.

The police officer said "airline." His English was perfect, so I do not believe this was a language issue at play.

I don't know, having only flown out of Germany on AA from DUS (this particular flight). When I've flown out of TXL/FRA on UA or MUC on LH (although there was an additional WTMD checkpoint right at our gate), I haven't had to deal with any of this nonsense. I'd be curious to know how AA's operations at FRA are relative to say, *A's.
