Today I had a SWU fail on leg 2 of FRA - DFW - DCA. I was on the list 3 weeks ago. I thought if SWU works for just 1 leg then you still rolled to a comp. At the gate I was talking to a PLT who got his seat last Tuesday with Miles/$$, 2 weeks after I was supposedly on the list. Either he's full of it or I have no clue. Maybe both.
Miles plus copay on domestic two-class books into "A" which is also a revenue bucket, so it should be available whenever A is free. SWUs also should book into A, but I think the request needs to be repeated manually when the inventory becomes available. I don't think the waitlist is automatically processed.
One answer to the puzzle of the missing EXP upgrades may be that many more kettles/ lower elites are upgrading through miles plus copay. But I don't understand why that would suddenly happen in late summer rather than a gradual increase over time.
