Read ops post before replying. Op never mentions using points to book a room, reference he made is earning points on his 'friends stays'
Op wants to game the system by booking paid nights for 'friends' who have no status, inteaad of those friends booking for thmselves, so those 'friends get platinum benefits they are not entitled to of ... specificallly menttioned room upgrade', late checkout. And to cap it all, Op wants to earn points without staying as well as give 'friends' elite benefits.
This is not the same as gifting a free night to a friend with your points, which op is not, as Op states he wants to earn points.
